I just found this article and despite it being a little old at this point it is fun to read back on the thoughts at the time vs. how the market has materialized. You should consider doing another deep dive on the current state of the market ~3 years later.

Looking at the new rockets in development at the time I wonder what your order prediction of first launch would be. It looks like it will ultimately come down to Vulcan, New Glenn, Neutron, and Terran R, with 3 of those 4 companies getting CEOs in the meantime.

The small launch market has been decimated. Most of those companies either went out of business, switched to missile development, or decided they needed a development a medium launch vehicle (Terran 1 to Terran R, electron to neutron, and Alpha to MLV, Rocket 1 to Rocket). It looks like the furthest small sat customers were willing to go in terms of launch price is doing something like the transporter or bandwagon programs through Falcon 9 instead of getting their own ride to orbit. Not many people are biting at the dedicated launch service, hence the pivot to bigger vehicles.

Seems like the key to all of these companies succeeding and ESPECIALY the companies developing medium launch vehicles is alternative revenue streams. Rocketlab has proven that by bringing in a ton of money through space systems and the haste program.

The last item which isn't mentioned in detail here but the decision by the DoW to split NSSL Phase 3 into lane 1 and lane 2. I thought this was genius at the time and was going to be a chance for the new guys to get some government launches but 2 years in and Falcon 9 has been the only winner of lane 1 launches. In my opinion this was kind of an egg in the face for the pentagon, but it looks like there will be many players in lane 1 in the coming years so if it means 3 bad years of lane 1 for a future of 20 years of innovative launch procurement and a clear path to on ramp for new guys I think that is a good thing.
